In the year 2000, the State Department of Consumer Affairs revised operational policies for cemeteries, prohibiting them from using funds from plots purchased after 1932 to maintain plots purchased prior to that date. The historic portion of Evergreen quickly fell into ruin and many of Riverside’s founders, were threatened with oblivion.
Several members of Riverside’s community leadership rallied to revive this place of repose. This group, incorporated now as Evergreen Memorial Historic Cemetery, has redressed a large part of Evergreen’s neglect. They need your help to finish restoration and raise a large enough fund to ensure Evergreen’s future.
