Hrista Stamenkovic, research engineer, scientist, author, and retired Riverside city employee, came to the U.S. from Yugoslavia in pursuit of personal and academic freedom. He grew up with his uncle and widowed mother who always encouraged him to learn.
When he arrived, he was already a leading international authority in concrete technology. As a city engineer, his expertise in creating seismically reinforced buildings potentially saved many lives. Along with his knowledge and research, he invested tremendous passion and energy into his work making significant contributions worldwide in his area of expertise. He continued his research after retirement and wrote a book identifying a new law of physics and additional ways to create safer structures.
